It’s been a little while since I’ve updated, but here’s the cover story I wrote last week for Farm’s Almanac:
It’s about the International League’s Toledo Mud Hens’ record home run pace, as they have a good chance of hitting more long balls than any other team in IL history (and hitting more per game than any team in pro baseball history, I believe). There’s not much interesting sidebar info from me, as all the interviews were done over the phone (and the players and coaches had to be reached through their hotel, which would connect me to their rooms very haphazardly. Sometimes they connected me no questions asked; other times I was told they weren’t allowed to connect me).
While we’re at it, here’s the release-type article I wrote on the South Atlantic League All-Star team:
And you guessed it, I sat back with a self-satisfied smirk after writing that first sentence. I was happy to see former Duke pitcher (before he transferred) Danny Otero make the squad as a reliever for the Augusta GreenJackets. Blue Devil pride!
